Why Mahashivratri?

The Sacred Night

🔱

Mahashivratri — the Great Night of Shiva — falls on the 14th night of the dark fortnight in the month of Phalguna. It is the night when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava, the cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and dissolution.

Devotees observe a night-long vigil, offering Bilva leaves, milk, honey, and water to the Shiva Lingam. Fasting and prayer on this night are believed to cleanse the soul and grant liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
